This Privacy Notice applies to information AdvisorWorld.com Inc. collects through www.thetrustedadvisor.com (the "Site").

1. About Us

This Site is operated by AdvisorWorld.com Inc. We have appointed a privacy officer who is accountable for our personal information handling practices. In this Privacy Notice, the terms "we", "our" and "us" mean AdvisorWorld.com Inc.

2. Effective Date and Scope

This Privacy Notice is effective as of July 19, 2026 and was most recently updated on the "Last Updated" date at the top of this page. It governs our practices with respect to information we collect through this Site.

3. What Information Do We Collect?

The Site is primarily an editorial publication and offers no user accounts. You can read everything on it — articles, guides, and advisor profiles — without giving us any personal information.

Information you give us through the advisor directory. The Site’s advisor directory includes a “Work with this advisor” request form. If you choose to use it, you provide your name, email address, and phone number, and you may optionally provide your ZIP/postal code and a short message describing what you would like help with. You provide this information only if you decide to request an introduction; nothing on the Site requires it. How this information is used and who it is shared with is described in Section 6 below.

Automatically collected technical information. When you visit the Site we automatically collect certain technical information: the site that referred you, your browser type, operating system, language, your Internet Protocol ("IP") address, the pages you visit and the time spent on them. We use this information to ensure pages load correctly, to understand how the Site is used, and to improve the Site.

4. Analytics, Session Recordings and Cookies

The Site uses a privacy-focused analytics tool (PostHog) to measure how the Site is used — pages visited, page-load performance, and referring sources — so we can improve it. This measurement uses session-scoped browser storage, not cookies, and it is tied to a random identifier that lasts only for your current browser session; we do not set advertising cookies, we do not build interest-based advertising profiles, and we do not sell visitor data.

Session recordings. To diagnose usability problems, we capture anonymized session recordings — a play-back of on-page interactions such as clicks and scrolling, together with browser console messages. These recordings are privacy-hardened: everything you type is masked, and they are tied only to the session identifier described above, never to your identity. This masking applies to the advisor-directory request form as well: the name, email, phone, and other details you type into it are masked in recordings and are not captured by our session-recording tool. The details you submit through that form are instead handled as described in Section 6.

5. Children and Minors

The Site and the services offered on it are not directed to individuals under the age of 18 years. We will not knowingly collect personal information about an individual under the age of 18.

6. Do We Disclose Your Personal Information to Others?

Advisor-directory requests. If you submit a “Work with this advisor” request through the directory, we use the details you provide (your name, email, phone, and any optional ZIP/postal code or message) to connect you with the advisor you selected. Your request is passed to AdvisorWorld.com Inc.’s advisor-matching system and shared with the advisor you asked to work with so that they can contact you about your request. There is no cost to you, and advisors do not pay for placement or for leads. We do not sell this information.

Except as described above, we do not disclose your personal information to third parties, except where required by law. We may retain and use information internally to support our business operations and ensure compliance with applicable regulations. We may also disclose personal information if required to do so by law or if we have reason to believe it is relevant to an investigation of a breach of the laws of Canada, a province or territory of Canada, or a foreign jurisdiction, and we are legally permitted to do so. In the event of a corporate restructuring, such as a merger, acquisition, bankruptcy, or other change in corporate control, personal information may form part of the assets considered in such transactions, in accordance with applicable legal requirements.

Service providers. Our analytics and session-recording provider (PostHog) processes the technical information described above on our behalf so that we can measure and improve the Site. We require our service providers to safeguard this information.

Law Enforcement Requests. We will disclose personal information without your knowledge or consent if we receive an order, subpoena, warrant or other legal requirement issued by a court, tribunal, regulator or other person with jurisdiction to compel disclosure of your personal information.

Storage Outside of Canada. Information may be used or stored by us or our service providers outside of Canada. We require that our service providers safeguard personal information. However, if information is used or stored outside of Canada, it will also be subject to the laws of the country in which it is used or stored.

7. How Do We Protect Information?

We take administrative, technical and physical measures to safeguard information against unauthorized access, unauthorized disclosure, theft and misuse. Although we take precautions against possible breaches of our security systems, no company can fully eliminate the risks of unauthorized access and no website is completely secure.

8. Links to Third-Party Websites

You may be able to access third-party websites through links available on our Site, including the primary sources we cite. These links are provided for your convenience. We do not have any control over those third-party websites and we do not provide any guarantee that the privacy practices of the hosts of those websites meet our standards.
